The name Neelam comes from the mango’s colour, unlike other varieties. The skin is light violet-blue, and the mangoes are smooth-skinned. The flesh is deep yellow to orange and has a rich, aromatic flavour that can be intense for those unaccustomed to it. They are grown across every part of the country and are typically found in abundance in June.
